A crash caused building collapse in East Baltimore on Wednesday night. Several people were injured and a man died during the incident as per police.

The crash happened post 9 p.m. and the driver of a suspected stolen car took off at high speed as officers approached said the police.

The car struck another vehicle leading both cars into the sidewalk and collapse of the building. The intersection near North Avenue and North Wolfe Street is where the incident happened.

A pedestrian who identified a 54-year-old man was pronounced dead on the scene after being pulled from the debris. Apart from this 5 others were found injured and hospitalised as per police. Their condition is not yet known.

It not yet confirmed whether the survivors were inside one of the two vehicles when the being collapsed as per first responders.

The rescue team was immediately called to assist the recovery process as they rushed to stabilise the building as per the firefighters union. Union officials confirmed that a minimum of five medics were sent to the site of the collision.

The investigators of the Baltimore Police Department’s Crash Team were sent to the site according to the authorities. The officers’ actions in the incident are still under investigation but it is unclear if the stolen car was chased by them or not.
