- The electronics pioneer, the co-founder and former chairman of Intel, Gordon Earle Moore dies at age 94 on Friday, as announced by Moore Foundation.

Personal life Gordon Earle Moore
On January 3, 1929, Mr. Moore was born in San Francisco. His mother was a homemaker and his father was a county sheriff. At the age of 10, Moore decided to become a chemist. He did his Bachelor of Science in chemistry from the University of California. At the age of 21, Moore married Betty and went to earn a doctorate degree in chemistry and physics at California Institute of Technology, with his wife. Moore graduated in 1954 and he moved to Maryland with his wife to do a staff job at Johns Hopkins University. Moore and Betty had two sons, Steve and Kenneth.
Gordon Earle Moore Co-Founded Intel
After few years, William Shockley called Mr. Moore to help him in inventing the transistor to Join Shockley Semiconductor Laboratory. But in 1957, Moore and eight other members became frustrated with Mr. Shockley’s Leadership and left the Mr. Shockley’s company.
Then, later in 1968, Mr. Moore and Robert Noyce (one of the member from the transistor project) founded Intel. Intel is known as the largest manufacturer of silicon microchips and currently it owns the 70% of the market. Mr. Moore initially served as executive vice president and became the president in 1975, at Intel. Until 1987, the positions he held was Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer. He stepped down as CEO in 1997 and became the chairman at Intel, until 2006. Even after stepping down as CEO and Chairman, Moore always remained close to the Intel.
In 2015, Mr. Moore joked at the event, he said, “One thing I’ve learned – once you’ve made a successful prediction, avoid making another one”.

CEO of Apple, Tim Cook tweeted, “The world lost a giant in Gordon Moore, who was one of the Silicon Valley’s founding fathers and a true visionary who helped pave the way for the technological revolution. All of us who followed owe him a debt of gratitude. May he rest in peace”.
“Gordon Moore defined the technology industry through his insight and vision. He was instrumental in revealing the power of transistors, and inspired technologists and entrepreneurs across the decades”, said the CEO of Intel, Pat Gelsinger.
Harvey Fineberg said in a statement, “Those of us who have met and worked with Gordon will forever be inspired by his wisdom, humility and generosity. Though he never aspired to be a household name, Gordon’s vision and his life’s work enabled the phenomenal innovation and technological developments that shape our everyday lives. Yet those historic achievements are only part of his legacy”.
According to the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation, Moore and Betty Foundation has donated more than $5.1 billion since the founding of the foundation, which happened in 2000.
