Red Bull is gearing up to ignite its first 2026 engine in collaboration with new partner Ford, signaling exciting developments in Formula 1’s future.
Dr. Helmut Marko revealed that within the next few weeks, the first complete 2026 engine unit, including the combustion engine, MGU-K, and battery, will undergo testing on the bench at Spa Francorchamps.
Confident in their progress, Marko stated, “We are, we think, on a par with Mercedes in terms of development. I can’t judge Renault, but Ferrari is behind us. With our incoming partner Ford, everything is also going according to plan.”
Red Bull’s new engine subsidiary has attracted multiple engine specialists from Mercedes, with Marko asserting that they were not enticed solely by increased salaries. Instead, he emphasized Red Bull’s spirited approach and passion for racing as key factors.
As the Red Bull-Ford alliance accelerates its engine development and navigates regulatory changes for a greener future, the world eagerly awaits the thrilling possibilities it will bring to the world of motorsport.
