Marc Gilpin, renowned for his portrayal of the younger son of Police Chief Martin Brody in the movie ‘Jaws 2,’ has sadly passed away at the age of 56. He battled glioblastoma, as announced by his older sister, Peri Gilpin, known for her role in ‘Frasier.’
Marc Gilpin is survived by his wife of 24 years, Kaki, and their two sons, Spencer (18) and Presley (16). His family has faced earlier tragedies with the passing of his sisters April in 2017 at the age of 48 and Patti in 2020 at the age of 57.
Born on September 26, 1966, in Austin, Marc Gilpin started his career early, landing his first national commercial at the age of 4 for Exxon. He continued to make appearances on various TV shows and movies, including ‘Thunder’ and ‘Where’s Willy?’ before his memorable role in ‘Jaws 2.’
Back in 1978, at the age of 11, Marc Gilpin successfully secured the role of Sean Brody in the sequel ‘Jaws 2,’ directed by Jeannot Szwarc, after prevailing over hundreds of other boys in a casting call. In this blockbuster follow-up to Steven Spielberg’s ‘Jaws’ (1975), he brought the character to life alongside Lorraine Gary, who returned as Chief Brody’s wife.

After his impactful debut, Gilpin appeared on NBC’s ‘CHiPs’ and, in 1981, featured in the films ‘The Legend of the Lone Ranger’ and ‘Earthbound.’ A highlight in his career came in 1985 when he was part of the impressive cast for the ABC telefilm ‘Surviving.’
