- Few models of Samsung top-load washers prove to be dangerous.
- Model series WA49B, WA50B, WA51A, WA52A, WA54A, and WA55A are the ones causing harm and these Samsung washers are being recalled.
Various Samsung washers were sold to appliance stores nationwide at Best Buy, Costco, Home Depot, and Lowe’s and even from Samsung’s website from June 2021 to December 2022. These washers have been reported of causing issues of overheating, fire, and short circuits.
There have been several reports of smoke due to fire and overheating. Incidences of property damage and injuries due to smoke have also been reported. Around 51 washers have been reported to be recalled by the company.
Consumer Product Safety Commission has recalled around 663000 top load washers as their feature of super speed wash which is an advanced feature is said to have caused a fire, smoke, overheating, and short circuit. This has been caused in various models which include WA49B, WA50B, WA51A, WA52A, WA54A, and WA55A series.
CPSC has urged people to immediately stop using the previous versions of machines and has received a software update to the machine. They have urged for the safety of consumers says the regulator.
They have issued the list of model numbers and serial numbers on Samsung’s website and have asked consumers to locate the same or trace it with the ones at their homes.
There are other updates available for customers having Wifi equipped washers who have not connected to the internet and power sources. The connections will automatically update as per the software update to CPSC and Samsung.
“Consumers whose washer does not have Wi-Fi capability or who otherwise wish to receive a free software repair without connecting to the internet should immediately stop using the washer and contact Samsung directly for a free dongle to plug in and download the free software repair,” the CPSC notice stated.

The issue with Samsung Washers appears to be severely dangerous and has to be fixed at the earliest possible. The models recalled must be reported to the consumers and they should be aware of the problem to avoid further harm.
