Shakira recently opened up about the emotional toll of her split from Gerard Piqué in a cover story for Billboard.

The Colombian superstar's 12-year romance with the former pro soccer player ended in June 2022, attracting tabloid attention.

Shakira went through various emotional stages, including denial, anger, pain, frustration, and eventually reaching a survival stage.

Despite the breakup, Shakira revealed that her true dream had been to raise her children with their father.

She expressed her belief in the concept of "till death do us part" and her desire for a lasting family like her parents.

Shakira acknowledged that her separation ultimately led to a resurgence in her career, but it was not her initial priority.
