Love Is Blind participant Renee Poche has recently filed a substantial lawsuit against Netflix and the show’s production company, Delirium TV.
In the reality show, Renee’s romantic journey was drastically edited out despite her engagement process. Shockingly, she alleges producers intentionally matched her with a mentally unstable and allegedly abusive partner, Carter Wall. Their initial connection soured when she uncovered his concealed personal issues, including unemployment, drug and alcohol addiction, family estrangement, homelessness, and violence.
Renee insists that Wall’s problematic background should have been discovered in the mandatory background checks for all cast members. This negligence placed her in an allegedly unsafe position during the show.

Post-engagement, during their time in Mexico with the cast, the situation escalated. Renee accused her ex of emotional abuse, substance abuse, and physical threats. Despite her fear, producers allegedly compelled her to film scenes with him and even left her alone with him.
Adding to the horror, Renee claims producers threatened legal action if she didn’t proceed with the engagement. Consequently, she returned to Wall’s hometown in Texas, where producers were aware of his instability but still allowed her to be alone with him.
The couple was eventually cut from the show, with producers citing Wall’s threat of suicide if the footage aired. Renee severed ties with Wall but faced a $4 million lawsuit from Delirium TV for violating her nondisclosure agreement after discussing the ordeal on a podcast.

In a legal twist, Renee, fighting back, revealed she was only paid $8,000 for her appearance and seeks to invalidate the NDA. Filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, her lawsuit alleges intentional infliction of emotional distress, along with violations of various California labor and civic codes. Lawyers Bryan Freedman and Mark Geragos claim Renee aims to expose the illegality of reality TV contracts.
Renee emphasizes the traumatic experience on “Love Is Blind,” feeling like a prisoner with no support when expressing concerns. Her lawyers, involved in other high-profile cases, highlight a broader mission to address issues in the entertainment industry.
Interestingly, Renee isn’t the only Season 5 cast member in a legal battle. Tran Dang, not featured in the season, is suing for sexual assault, false imprisonment, and negligence. These legal challenges unveil underlying issues in the dating show, sparking hope for prompt resolution.
