Utz Quality Foods Issues Voluntary Recall for Potato Chips Over Undeclared Milk Contamination

In a recent development, Utz Quality Foods has taken a proactive step by recalling 88 cases of potato chips. The recall, prompted by the detection of undeclared milk contamination, was officially announced on Thursday.

Utz Quality Foods, headquartered in Hanover, Pa., revealed that approximately 1,200 single-serve bags containing Utz Wavy Original Potato Chips were inadvertently flavored with seasoning instead of the intended plain version. This oversight poses a potential risk for individuals with allergies or sensitivities to milk, as consuming the product may trigger adverse reactions.

The affected potato chips, part of the recall, were exclusively distributed in New York state, with a primary focus on New York City.

Importantly, as of now, no illnesses associated with this voluntary recall have been reported.

Details of the Recalled Product:

  • Item Description: Utz® 2.75 oz. Wavy Original Potato Chips
  • UPC: 0-41780-19014-7
  • Expiration Date: May 06, 2024

It’s crucial to note that no other Utz® products are currently subject to recall.

Consumers with a milk allergy are strongly advised against consuming the products covered by this voluntary recall. For those who have purchased the recalled items, disposal is recommended. Additionally, affected consumers can contact the Utz Customer Care team for a refund via email (customerservice@utzsnacks.com) or phone (1-800-367-7629, Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm Eastern Time).

Retailers are urged to conduct thorough checks of their inventories and shelves to ensure that none of the recalled products are present or available for purchase by consumers.
