Reality TV personality Karen Huger was charged with driving under the influence (DUI) and driving while intoxicated (DWI) following a car accident in Maryland on Tuesday night.
Karen Huger Faces DUI Charge, Traffic Violations and Aggressive Driving Allegations
According to court documents, the 60-year-old Housewife was driving her car when she was pulled over by police at around 11:50 pm. She is accused of being impaired by alcohol while operating the vehicle.
Huger will be required to appear in court to face the DUI and DWI charges. She is also facing several traffic violations, including negligent driving, reckless driving, speeding, and driving with a suspended registration.
Police confirm that Huger’s car collided with a median and street signs, but she was not injured. However, authorities reported that she was driving aggressively and at high speed before the crash.
This news comes on the heels of a successful eighth season for “The Real Housewives of Potomac,” which premiered in November 2023. Huger has been a mainstay on the show since its debut in 2016.

Beyond reality TV, Huger is a businesswoman who launched her own fragrance line, “La’ Dame!” in 2019. The fragrance has found success in major retailers like Bloomingdale’s. She is also a philanthropist and serves as the tourism ambassador for her Virginia hometown, Surry County.
Karen Huger Speaks Out After Car Crash
Huger released a statement regarding the incident, expressing gratitude for being alive and attributing the accident to emotional distress from the recent passing of her mother. She claims she swerved to avoid a head-on collision with another vehicle that drove away from the scene.
Huger concluded by urging people to be aware of their emotional state before driving and credited her seatbelt and her deceased mother for her safety.
