Born as Ferren Lee in Hong Kong, she later moved to the United States, where she attended middle and high school in San Francisco. Lee’s singing career took off after she secured first runner-up in a prominent singing competition organized by TVB in Hong Kong at the age of 19. In 1994, she released her debut album, marking the beginning of her nearly 30-year-long journey in the music industry.

In 2011, Lee married Bruce Rockowitz, a Canadian businessman and former CEO of Hong Kong supply chain company Li & Fung. While she did not have children of her own, she embraced her role as a stepmother to her husband’s two daughters from a previous relationship.
