Pop star Normani had to cancel her highly anticipated performance at the 2024 BET Awards due to an injury sustained during rehearsals. Just before the show began, Normani took to her Instagram Stories to share the unfortunate news with her fans.
Sharing a photo of herself on crutches with a bandaged knee and booted foot, Normani expressed her deep disappointment. “I wanted to let you all know that I had a bad accident while rehearsing for the BET Awards and injured myself,” she wrote.
Despite being known for pushing through challenges, Normani revealed she was following doctor’s orders and wouldn’t be able to perform. “I wanted to give you my best, but performing would slow down my recovery,” she explained.
Normani apologized to her fans, emphasizing her regret about missing the opportunity. “I’m heartbroken and hate to disappoint you, but right now I have to focus on getting better,” she shared.

The BET Awards were set to be Normani’s big return to the live performance stage after the release of her debut album, “Dopamine.” In a recent interview, Normani expressed her excitement to perform again, highlighting how it brings her the most joy.
Despite the setback, Normani sent well wishes to the BET Awards and fellow performers. “This isn’t how I planned this weekend,” she admitted, “but I’ll be cheering everyone on from home! Sending love.”
