New Twitter asks employees commitment to work for long hours and high intensity. They have been told to click the link by Thursday evening confirming their consent towards new working policies.
It was observed that employees were quitting in large numbers after Elon Musk took over Twitter and announced the new working policy of the company to work for long hours and with high intensity. The reason for this move was not disclosed or discussed.
The Twitter message went on to say:
“Please continue to comply with company policy by refraining from discussing confidential company information on social media, with the press, or elsewhere.”
Elon Musk is a workaholic as he admits to working hundreds of hours and is dedicated to his job. He further states in his recent court case he works all of the time and has high expectations of his employees.
It is said that he might be following the China work policy i.e. 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and 6 days a week work culture. This is not so popular work culture in the US but it seems appealing to Elon from a future perspective.
Elon Musk sets a deadline for employees to abide by the terms of the new work structure by Thursday or they would be given severance pay of 3 months.
It is now evident that Twitter’s announcement about closing offices temporarily comes as a sign that a large number of employees are resigning from Twitter as they don’t wish to work extensively as per Elon Musk’s expectations.
This all lead to a Twitter war as Mr. Musk tweeted on Friday “And…. We just hit another all-time high in Twitter usage, lol.”
To which Satirist Frank Lesser replied “‘Rome has never been this brightly lit at night!’ – Nero” – a reference to the Roman emperor who is reputed to have fiddled while Rome burnt.
Despite of this the fact that people are given a fair chance to make through it or move out of it is another un ignorable factor. But, it is evident that working with Twitter will be a difficult and different experience for those continuing to work.
It is rumoured that the number of twitter employees has drastically come down. Even after this effect Mr. Musk further tweeted that, “The best people are staying, so I’m not super worried”. And added the separate post with a meme of gravestone with Twitter logo on it.
