Foo Fighters and Alanis Morissette Pay Tribute to Sinead O’Connor With Emotional ‘Mandinka’ Cover at Japan’s Fuji Rock Festival

The Fuji Rock Festival in Yuzawa, Japan witnessed a heartfelt tribute to the late Sinead O’Connor on Saturday, with Foo Fighters and Alanis Morissette delivering a poignant performance of her iconic song, “Mandinka.”

In a powerful moment during the band’s set, Dave Grohl invited Alanis Morissette to join them on stage to honor the remarkable singer, known for her high intelligence and deep empathy. They paid homage to O’Connor with a rendition of “Mandinka,” which served as the second single from her groundbreaking 1987 debut album, “The Lion and the Cobra.”

Dave Grohl addressed the crowd, saying, “For a very special reason, ladies and gentlemen, would you please welcome to sing a song with us, Alanis Morissette. We’re singing this song for a reason tonight.”

Alanis Morissette added her heartfelt words, “For a beautiful woman, way ahead of her time, who’s no longer with us, this is for her.”

After the emotional tribute, Morissette expressed, “May Sinead rest in some peace.”
