Who’s Talking actress, Kirstie Alley passes away at age 71

The two-time Emmy-winning actress Kirstie Alley passes away at age 71 after a brief battle with cancer. She became well-known for her part in the popular TV show “Cheers”.

Reuters received confirmation of Alley’s passing via her agent and a statement from the actress’ children posted on her official Twitter account, both of which stated that the actress passed away at the Moffitt Cancer Center in Florida.

“To all our friends, far and wide around the world… we are sad to inform you that our incredible, fierce and loving mother has passed away after a battle with cancer, only recently discovered,” True and Lillie Parker said in a statement.

“She was surrounded by her closest family and fought with great strength, leaving us with a certainty of her never-ending joy of living and whatever adventures lie ahead. As iconic as she was on screen, she was an even more amazing mother and grandmother.”

In the NBC comedy “Cheers,” which she appeared in from 1987 to 1993 and for which she won an Emmy and a Golden Globe in 1991, Alley’s breakthrough role was Rebecca Howe. In 1994, she received her second Emmy for the television movie “David’s Mother.”

Alley also starred alongside John Travolta in the 1989 film comedy “Look Who’s Talking” and its two sequels. “Kirstie was one of the most special relationships I’ve ever had,” Travolta said on Instagram alongside a photo of the actress in a white dress.

“I love you Kirstie. I know we will see each other again.”
