Longtime Oasis fans have something to celebrate as the British rock legends have stormed the U.K. album chart with “The Masterplan” on its 25th-anniversary reissue. In the quest for the top spot, Oasis must unseat Taylor Swift’s “1989 (Taylor’s Version),” currently sliding to No. 2 on the Official Chart Update.
Originally released in 1998, “The Masterplan,” a compilation of b-sides from Oasis’s iconic early albums, including “Definitely Maybe” (1994), “(What’s The Story) Morning Glory?” (1995), and “Be Here Now” (1997), has ascended to the No. 1 spot. The album, anchored by the timeless classic “Acquiesce,” initially reached No. 2 on the charts. If it maintains its lead, it will mark Oasis’s ninth chart-topper, and their first in 13 years since the 2010 hits collection “Time Flies… (1994-2009).”
