Olivia Rodrigo and her songwriting partner Dan Nigro have struck gold again, this time claiming the prestigious ASCAP Songwriters of the Year award for 2024.
The ceremony, held on May 8th at the Houdini Estate in Los Angeles, recognized the duo’s exceptional talent behind the chart-topping hits “Vampire” and “Bad Idea, Right?” from Olivia’s albums “Sour” (2021) and “Guts” (2023).
Hailing them as a “true pop dream team,” ASCAP acknowledged the immense success of both albums. “Guts,” described as a “bona fide modern masterpiece,” garnered critical acclaim, fueled a sold-out world tour, and dominated the charts.

Taking to Instagram, Nigro expressed his gratitude: “Thank you so much to ASCAP for naming Olivia and I as Songwriters of the Year!!! Feeling very grateful today.”
This win marks Olivia’s second time receiving the honor, having previously secured the Songwriter of the Year title in 2022.
Her passion for songwriting is well-documented. In a past interview with Time, she emphasized the importance of creative ownership: “Songwriting is the thing I take most seriously… It’s an important lesson in controlling your own narrative.”
