In a recent interview, bachata star Prince Royce opened up about his personal struggles and how they influenced his new album, “Llamada Perdida.” The album, released on Friday, is his first since his very public divorce in 2022.
Royce admitted that he usually finds it easier to express himself through music than in interviews. However, he used this album as an opportunity to wear his heart on his sleeve and explore themes of heartbreak, healing, and personal growth.

The album includes several bachata tracks about heartbreak, such as “Sufro” and “Morfina.” But Royce clarified that not all the songs are strictly autobiographical. He enjoys blending fictional narratives with personal experiences, leaving room for interpretation.
Throughout the recording process, Royce rediscovered his passion for music and experimented with innovative fusions. One standout collaboration is “Boogie Chata” with rapper A Boogie Wit da Hoodie, which seamlessly blends bachata with hip-hop. He also ventured into Mexican music with “Cosas de la Peda,” featuring rising star Gabito Ballesteros.

The album also explores diverse Dominican genres, including dembow in “Le Doy 20 Mil” and merengue típico in “Frío en el Infierno.” One of the most personal tracks is “La Vida Te Hace Fuerte,” where Royce reflects on overcoming life’s challenges.
“Llamada Perdida” marks a cathartic experience for Royce, allowing him to process his emotions and emerge stronger. He hopes the album will resonate with listeners facing their own obstacles and inspire them to keep moving forward.
