Pop star Raye is back with a powerful new single “Genesis,” following her record-breaking six wins at the 2024 Brit Awards.
The ambitious seven-minute track is a deeply personal exploration of the darkness and struggles Raye sees in the world, but it also carries a message of hope.
Inspired by Nina Simone’s belief that artists have a duty to reflect the times, Raye poured her heart and soul into “Genesis,” experimenting with various genres to create a unique soundscape.
The song is divided into three parts, each showcasing a different facet of Raye’s journey. Part one confronts self-doubt and the negativity of social media. Part two delves into societal issues with a hip-hop influenced beat. The final part finds Raye pleading for a better world and celebrating everyday heroes.
