Todd Chrisley, formerly of the USA Network show “Chrisley Knows Best,” was found liable for defamation by a Georgia jury and ordered to pay $755,000 to a former state investigator.

Doherty-Heinze, who investigated Chrisley for the Georgia Department of Revenue, sued him in 2021 alleging he made false and damaging statements about her on his podcast and social media. The jury agreed, awarding Doherty-Heinze compensation for reputational harm caused by Chrisley’s claims.

Chrisley, currently serving a prison sentence for bank fraud and tax evasion, plans to appeal the defamation verdict. His lawyer argued some statements were not defamatory and the lawsuit shouldn’t have gone to trial.

This legal battle comes amidst separate ongoing federal charges against Chrisley and his wife, Julie, who are both imprisoned for their financial crimes. Their daughter recently announced an upcoming appeal hearing, raising hope for their release.
