Renée Rapp Shares Inspirational Journey Behind ‘Snow Angel’

Former star of ‘The Sex Lives of College Girls,’ Renée Rapp, delves into the compelling story behind the title track of her newly released debut album, ‘Snow Angel.’

In a candid conversation on Jay Shetty’s ‘On Purpose’ podcast, the talented actress and singer opens up about a deeply traumatic experience that served as the inspiration for her latest song.

The harrowing incident unfolded in early 2022 during a night out with a new group of friends. Despite warnings from her close-knit circle about these new acquaintances, the 23-year-old Rapp found herself reveling in a newfound sense of freedom following a recent breakup.

“I let my guard down in terms of the people around me,” Rapp admitted. “It was one troubling situation after another, and before I knew it, I woke up alone, lying in a hotel bar bathroom stall, facing the ceiling, at 5 in the morning.”

Confusion gripped Rapp as she awoke to find bloodstains on her clothing and two missed texts from individuals she had been with the previous evening, dating back to 10 pm.

Rapp painfully recounted, “I had been drugged and had been missing for seven hours. It was a jarring realization.”

It took several months for Rapp to confront the trauma, and when she did, she felt compelled to channel her emotions into songwriting. Alexander 23, also known as Alexander Glantz, her friend and co-writer, played a pivotal role in encouraging her creative endeavor.

“We began crafting the song together, just the two of us. Throughout the entire process, I felt strangely numb,” Rapp recounted. “It wasn’t until we recorded the song, and it was complete, that I truly felt the impact. When I played it for my friends and manager, they were blown away. For me, that entire year of my life represented unwavering resilience.”

Renée Rapp’s journey from a traumatic experience to the creation of ‘Snow Angel’ underscores the power of art and storytelling as a means to heal and inspire.
