Mike Gabbler won the title of Sole Survivor in the American reality show ‘Survivor’ on the finale of its 43rd season on Wednesday.
“Survivor 43” announced Mike Gabler as the winner and awarded him with the prize of $1 million on the finale day. Mike 52, is a heart valve specialist who created a history revealing that he would be donating the entire prize to veterans. While announcing it Gabler said, “There are people who need that money more”.
Survivor is one of the top-rated television CBS reality shows and is designed to bring out the survivor. The show casts people who are eagerly interested in the adventure. They have to provide themselves with food, fire, and shelter while they would be tested on all fronts that are mentally and physically challenging. They also have to gain immunity from fellow participants and survive nominations.
After the show, Jeff Probst the host of the Survivor show filmed moments with Gabler post-win and that is where the winner confirmed the donation of his prize to the veterans struggling with PTSD, recovering from psychiatric problems, and the suicide epidemic. He expressed his feelings while talking to the audience by saying “We’re going to save lives and do something good.” Pointing towards the castmates he further exclaimed, “Season 43, all of us did this, we made history guys and a million dollars is going to them.” Rejoicing the tender moments.
The show took place on Fiji Island and the finale took place between the top five contestants including Gabler. The other contestants are Owen Knight, Jesse Lopez, Cassidy Clark, and Karla Cruz Godoy of which Gabler, Clark, and Knight made it to the top three. Out of the three Mike won by securing a 7-1-0 vote from the jurors.
What Mike Gabler Said About Donating $1 Million?
Jeff Probst the executive producer and host of the show who hosts after show every year respectfully asked Mike about his financial position as he was curious about the good gesture to which Mike politely replied,
“No, I’ve worked very hard, I’ve been fortunate,” he said. “But you know, I realized being through this experience, I am rich at home. I have an amazing life at home. I have an amazing family. I have amazing friends. I need to be a better husband, I need to be a better father, I need to be a better brother, I need to be a better son. I’m going to do all those things just like all of us are going to do when we go home. And to take these million dollars in this time period where there’s so much going on in the news that people don’t like to look at, and we go, ‘Well that’s why we’re watching Survivor, because amazing things happen on this show, and we just did another one on season 43.”

He also explained that he wants to help the veterans in his father’s name Robert Gabler who was keenly interested in helping the veterans survive.
Jeff Probst when asked about why he did the after show expressed his feelings below,
“I love doing the after-show in the jungle immediately following the announcement of the winner. It’s so raw and so much more authentic,” he told Entertainment Weekly. “I know some fans miss the pomp and circumstance of bringing the players back months after the show ended. I fully appreciate that there is something very exciting about a live audience and seeing the players clean and all dressed up.”
While there are people struggling to survive on daily basis in various ways shows like this one and deserving celebrities like Mike Gabler are certainly proving to be a boon. Where people are mostly concerned about earning money and are only interested in their own growth here are heroes like Mike and Probst who are creating change, and awareness and making the world better with simple yet significant gestures.
