In a shocking turn of events, Spanish film star Gabriel Guevara found himself in police custody at the Venice International Film Festival, facing allegations of sexual assault.

The 22-year-old actor gained recognition for his role in the Spanish-language film “My Fault,” known as “Culpa Mía” in its native language, which became an unexpected hit on Prime Video. However, his time at the prestigious film festival took an abrupt and unsettling turn as Italian state police arrested him on Saturday. The arrest stems from a case currently under investigation in France, according to reports from Variety. The Venice-based Italian Court of Appeals will soon decide whether Guevara will be extradited to France to face these allegations.

Responding to the situation, the film festival organizers issued a statement on Sunday, clarifying that Gabriel Guevara’s presence in Venice had no connection to the 80th Venice International Film Festival’s events or productions. They affirmed that there would be no alterations to the festival program due to Guevara’s arrest.

Notably, Guevara had been scheduled to receive the Best New Actor award from “Finding Italy” on Sunday. It’s essential to emphasize that “Finding Italy” is distinct from the Venice International Film Festival. Following Guevara’s arrest, “Finding Italy” announced that they would not proceed with honoring the young actor, citing the ongoing legal situation.

As of now, specific details regarding the sexual assault allegations against Gabriel Guevara have not been disclosed, leaving room for further developments in this unexpected and distressing story.
