Squid Game Star O Yeong-Su Found Guilty of Sexual Misconduct, Receives Suspended Sentence

South Korean actor O Yeong-Su, known for his role in the global phenomenon “Squid Game”, was sentenced to eight months in prison, suspended for two years, for sexual misconduct.

The 79-year-old actor was accused of assaulting a woman in 2017. He maintains his innocence and intends to appeal the verdict.

According to court documents, the alleged incidents involved unwanted physical contact, including hugging and kissing. O has been ordered to attend mandatory classes on sexual violence education.

Judge Jeong Yeon-ju acknowledged the victim’s testimony, stating it “appeared to be truthful based on the consistency of the statements.”

O rose to international fame after starring in “Squid Game,” a Netflix series that became a massive hit. He subsequently became the first South Korean actor to win a Golden Globe Award for his role.

Following the accusations, O was reportedly removed from a scheduled film project.

A women’s rights organization emphasized the seriousness of the offense, urging the actor to acknowledge his actions and apologize to the victim.
