Joe Henry husband of Melanie Ciccone announced the death of his brother-in-law Anthony Ciccone’s death through Instagram on Saturday. He was the eldest sibling of Madonna.
He captioned the post saying that his brother-in-law, Anthony Gerard Ciccone existed in an earthly plane last evening. Adding further he said that he knew Anthony since he was 15 and many years have gone now. He also added a black-and-white photo of him to the post.
He also said that the photo was clicked by Dave Henry who notes about Anthony that he was a complex character and we had tangled moments as brothers can and that he loved and understood him.
Henry added with the hands reached across the table emoji that “troubles fades family remains”. “Farewell, then, brother Anthony. I want to think the god your blessed mother (and mine) believed in has her there, waiting to receive you,” he continued. “At least for today, no one shall dissuade me from this vision.”
Madonna who has 7 siblings grew up in Michigan where Anthony died at the age of 66. Their mother died of breast cancer at the age of 33 in 1963. The eldest brother struggled with alcoholism and was homeless for seven years. He was also reported to be living under a bridge in Michigan.
It was reported that Anthony completed a rehab program in December 2017 and later reconnected with his family at home. He had also spoken about his family and Madonna accusing them of not caring.
“I’m a zero in their eyes – a non-person. I’m an embarrassment. If I froze to death, my family probably wouldn’t know or care about it for six months,” he said in 2011 as per reports.
He also went ahead and said about his dad that he wouldn’t care if he died of hypothermia and that they won’t have to worry about him. He is old school and grew up in depression.
