Pia Wurtzbach (the former Miss Universe) took her Instagram handle to announce about her short break that she will be taking by spending a few weeks in London to spend quality time with her family and take care of herself. It is believed that she is taking break as wedding bells are ringing for Pia Wurtzbach.
Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach was born on September 24, 1989, formerly known professionally as Pia Romero, is a Filipino model, actress and beauty queen who is known for being crowned Miss Universe 2015. Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach was born in Stuttgart, Germany, to a German father and Filipino mother. She has a sister who is two years younger than she is.
Pia became quite emotional while she mentioned missing her family and the quality time that couldn’t spend with them for so many years. She was also grateful for her decision that at least now she could have a gala time with them.
“I’m grateful to have this time OFF…alam ko mahirap cos lahat tayo we can’t get off work just like that. Madaming responsibilities and all. Work mode is real diba lalo na after the holidays. Kayo ba? But PAUSE lang muna tayo and say this with me: ‘Kamusta na ba ako? Okay pa ba ako?’” she said.
She joined Binibining Pilipinas pageant three times, and won in 2015 in her third attempt. She then represented Philippines at the Miss Universe 2015 pageant, where she eventually won the title, becoming the first Filipina to win the pageant in four decades, and the first Filipina to win the pageant in the 21st century. She is the third Filipina to win the title of Miss Universe, following Gloria Diaz who won in 1969 and Margie Moran who won in 1973, and was succeeded by Catriona Gray three years later, with Gray winning Miss Universe 2018.
She further added, “Unfortunately, I’m not going to be able to join the London Marathon this year. I contemplated for a looong time and I really wanted to do it this year because I was doing it for such a good cause, @smiletrainph, and I didn’t want to let anyone down. I have a tendency to be hard on myself especially when it comes to hitting goals and I know marathon training + wedding planning will be a stressful combo.
Runners know this but just a little background, prepping for a marathon means 4 to 6 hours training a day and medyo malapit na yung marathon. So tough as it may be, I know that deferring my entry this year is the right decision,” she said. And at the end she mentioned about coming back to Philippines “healthier, stronger, and ready to be back in action.”
The top Model also mentioned that she will be participating in all the upcoming marathons, but only after she gets married and enjoys all the rituals and preparations.
