Zac Efron and Matthew Perry were close friends, both on and off the screen. They met on the set of the 2009 comedy “17 Again,” where Efron played a younger version of Perry’s character. Efron has said that Perry was a mentor to him during filming, and that he learned a lot from him, especially about comedic timing.

The two actors remained close after the film was released. In a 2023 interview, Efron said that Perry was “one of the funniest people I’ve ever met,” and that he was “grateful for his friendship and guidance.”

Perry also had high praise for Efron. In a 2022 interview, he said that Efron was “a talented actor with a bright future.” He also said that he hoped Efron would play him in a future biopic.

It remains to be seen whether Efron will actually be cast in a Perry biopic, but his willingness to play the role is a touching gesture. It’s clear that Efron respected Perry greatly, and he would likely do a great job of capturing his unique personality on screen.
