Zachery Ty Bryan, known for his role in the TV show Home Improvement, finds himself in legal trouble once more, this time for alleged domestic violence. The 41-year-old actor was taken into custody on Friday, facing felony assault charges, reminiscent of his previous arrest in 2020 when he assaulted his then-girlfriend, Johnnie Faye Cartwright, while still married to Carly Matros.
Law enforcement responded to a physical dispute report between a man and woman at an address in Eugene, Oregon. Although Bryan was not there when the authorities arrived, they later located and apprehended him, placing him behind bars.
Back in October 2020, Bryan faced charges of fourth-degree assault and strangulation, but he ultimately pleaded guilty to lesser charges of misdemeanor menacing and misdemeanor assault.
“We didn’t even really get that physical,” Bryan clarified. “We got really loud. We were screaming, and because we were in a townhome with thin walls, everybody could hear…At the end of the day, [the police] throw a bunch of counts at you because they ultimately want you to plead to something.”

Cartwright, on the other hand, asserted that Bryan had been abusive in the month leading up to the incident, alleging that he “pulled her hair,” punched her in the face, and choked her for about 45 seconds.
Despite their tumultuous past, Bryan and Cartwright remain a couple. They got engaged in 2021 and are parents to three children.
