The director behind “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,” Gareth Edwards finally breaks silence on “Rougue One” controverdy and talked about the reshoots that happened during the making of the movie in 2016. Tony Gilroy was brought in by Lucasfilm to help with these reshoots.
On KCRW’s “The Business” podcast, Edwards expressed frustration with the inaccurate information circulating about how the film was made. He made it clear that the entire team, including himself, worked together until the very end of production. Edwards wanted to correct reports that suggested he was pushed aside by Lucasfilm and stressed that he played a significant role in the reshoots, including the memorable scene with Darth Vader. He said, “I was involved in filming the Darth Vader corridor scene, which was the very last thing we shot in the pickup shoot.”

Back in September, when asked about these reports, Edwards expressed his gratitude for the chance to direct a “Star Wars” movie, comparing it to winning the lottery. He cherished the experience and disagreed with anyone who suggested otherwise.
Currently, Gareth Edwards has his latest science fiction film, “The Creator,” playing in theaters. It stars John David Washington and explores a story of conflict between humans and artificial intelligence.
