Jurassic World Fan Scarlett Johansson Gets Surprise Welcome from Jeff Goldblum

Longtime Jurassic Park fan Scarlett Johansson, who’s starring in the upcoming installment of the franchise, was on NBC’s Today promoting her new film Fly Me To The Moon. During the interview, she received a surprise welcome from none other than Jeff Goldblum, a veteran actor from the series.

Johansson, a self-proclaimed “huge nerd” for Jurassic Park, was wrapping up her interview when host Savannah Guthrie announced a special message. A video played on screen revealing Goldblum, sporting his signature glasses and a dinosaur sweater.

“Here’s what I want to say to you,” Goldblum began in the video. “This I know: Scarlett will find a way. Don’t get eaten unless you want to. I love you.”

This quote playfully referenced Goldblum’s iconic line “Life finds a way” from the original 1993 Jurassic Park movie. In the film, Goldblum plays Dr. Ian Malcolm, a mathematician who must survive alongside a team amidst chaos caused by escaped dinosaurs at a remote theme park.

Goldblum’s Dr. Malcolm became a beloved character, leading to his return in sequels The Lost World: Jurassic Park and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.

Overwhelmed with excitement, Johansson exclaimed, “I mean my life is complete. It’s done. Yes… done. I can retire. Oh my gosh!” She also politely corrected Guthrie when the host mistakenly referenced the line as “water finds a way.”

Johansson revealed in a recent interview that she’d been trying to land a role in the Jurassic franchise for a decade. The franchise began with three Jurassic Park films in the 1990s, followed by a reboot with Jurassic World in 2015.

The upcoming Jurassic World movie, slated for release in 2025, is directed by Gareth Edwards and co-stars Jonathan Bailey, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Rupert Friend, Mahershala Ali, Luna Blaise, David Iacono, and newcomer Audrina Miranda. The script is written by David Koepp, who penned the original Jurassic Park and its sequel The Lost World, as well as Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi.
