Sir Michael Caine, the esteemed 90-year-old actor, recently disclosed his trifecta of life “secrets” that have contributed to his remarkable longevity.

Caine is set to grace the screen alongside the late Glenda Jackson in the upcoming drama film “The Great Escaper.” In this cinematic masterpiece, he portrays a World War II veteran who orchestrates a daring escape from his British care home to partake in the D-Day celebrations in France.

During an interview with the Daily Mail, conducted to promote the film, Caine was asked to share his insights into achieving a long and fulfilling life.

With a characteristic touch of humor, he responded, “Younger wives, no snacking, and wear trainers at all times. And you have to be careful not to fall down.”

Caine has enjoyed a long and happy marriage with his wife, former actor and fashion model Shakira Caine, who was formerly known as Shakira Baksh. They tied the knot in 1973, and Shakira, at 76 years old, is 14 years younger than Caine.

During the conversation, Caine shared his views on a range of topics, including the idea of bringing back mandatory national service for young people. Drawing from his own life experiences, he expressed his belief in the importance of reinstating such a requirement.

Having served in the military during his own national service, stationed in Iserlohn, West Germany, and later seeing action in Korea, Caine emphasized, “I think every young man should be made to do it. It truly makes a man of you.”

He added, “I only became an actor after I left the army. I did rep for nine years then got a movie and was like, ‘f*** this! I love films more.’ I liked the money and all.”

During the interview, Caine also discussed his perspective on intimacy coordinators, who are professionals hired on film and TV sets to make sure that actors feel comfortable and give their consent during scenes that involve intimacy or sensitive content.

This practice has become common in the industry, but it hasn’t been without its critics. Actors such as Sir Ian McKellen and Sean Bean have raised concerns, suggesting that it might sometimes hinder the natural and authentic acting process.

In response to the question about intimacy co-ordinators, Caine expressed his surprise, stating, “Really? Seriously? What are they? We never had that in my day.”

He continued, “Thank god I’m 90 and don’t play lovers anymore is all I can say. In my day, you just did the love scene and got on with it without anyone interfering. It’s all changed.”

Notably, earlier in the week, a prominent intimacy co-ordinator, who worked on Netflix’s “Sex Education,” addressed criticisms surrounding the profession, acknowledging the reservations some actors may have about their presence on set.
