The US Comedian Jimmy Kimmel joked that after the incident that took place last year at the red carpet when Will Smith had slapped Chris Rock onstage, the committee has decided to have a champagne-colored carpet for this year’s 95th Academy Awards.

Jokes Apart! But yes, it is true that on which every Hollywood star will walk on Sunday, the famous Oscars Red Carpet will now be Champagne colored. This aww-struck revelation of new color of the carpet was made at Dolby Theatres in Los Angeles, on Wednesday by Kimmel who was joined by the Academy’s chief executive Bill Kramer, and its president Janet Yang.

Jimmy was obliged as he was going to host the event, “Thanks so much for asking me to do this, I’m honored, I’m thrilled, I’m excited – mostly about the carpet. We got it for a very good price downtown.” He added, “This carpet is so beautiful”.

On revealing the champagne-colored carpet, Jimmy Kimmel said during an interview, “People have been asking if there’s going to be any trouble this year, is there going to be any violence this year? I would certainly hope not.

I think the decision to go with a champagne carpet rather than a red carpet shows just how confident we are that no blood will be shed.” Kimmel added, “We promise that this is going to be a fun show. People have been asking us, can we make the show longer and yes, it is going to be longer. Hopefully it won’t feel long because we have a lot of great stuff in store, we have a lot of great plans, we have some great music performances – I’ve been working on jokes for days now.”

The Oscars carpet has been red-colored since the 33rd Academy Awards in 1961 that was hosted by Bob Hope.

Kimmel praised the production workers as they rolled out two sections of the carpet, joking: “This has got to be the dumbest thing you guys have ever gotten up at 7.30 in the morning for. Look at how beautifully they’re rolling out that carpet. This is the kind of thing you only see in Hollywood – and every model home in America. When we’re done with this, we’re going to be carpeting all of Hollywood.”

Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences CEO Bill Kramer and Academy president Janet Yang have also supported Champagne-colored carpet.
