  • Twitter introduces 4000 characters tweet for twitter blue subscribers, currently it is 280 characters.
  • Twitter Blue to make long tweets, videos and images to users.

Twitter Blue subscribers are going to be able to write up to 4000 character tweets as disclosed by Twitter recently. The limit shall also apply to quote tweets and replies. Previously this limit was of 280 characters. Twitter has also said that people can post media like images or videos along with long tweets.

The Twitter Blue subscribers have liberty to post long tweets but all users can read them. First 280 characters will only be shown on timeline and to read more users can click on “show more” and read it further.

This is an attempt to make people subscribe for the longer tweets instead of threads. The more people buy the subscription the more they will be tempted to write long tweets and the other non-blue users will still post threads leading to confusion.

The ads are also going to be reduced specially for the Blue subscribers to support Twitter Blue page. Costlier ad-free subscription is also expected as said by Elon Musk earlier.

Twitter Blue had also introduced 60-minute long videos feature earlier this is one of the important step towards attracting bloggers and video content creators to post their content on the platform but at a price.

Twitter Blue is also going to be introduced in India, Brazil, and Indonesia making it 15 markets where subscriptions shall be made available. Twitter Blue in India costs ₹650 ($7.87) per month which is much higher than any other subscription like Amazon Prime, YouTube premium, Spotify or Apple Music. As of now Netflix is the highest subscription which costs ₹650 per month. Which is available in 4k quality on four screens.

Considering all the factors the new features of Twitter are a matter of debate as to whether it will be as successful as others or not.
