Microsoft To Layoff Thousands Of Employees From Several Divisions

Headlines:

  • Microsoft to layoff thousands of employees just like Meta Platforms Inc and Amazon.com.
  • Cut off to affect Human Resource and engineering divisions and U.S. technology sector.

Microsoft Corp is expected to cut thousands of jobs some roles to be human resources and engineering divisions as reported to media on Tuesday. The technology sector in U.S. is expected to further cut off as the companies including Amazon.com Inc and Meta Platforms Inc have already announced retrenchment due to slowing demand in global economic outlook.

This could indicate shedding jobs in tech sector to be continued post Microsoft’s move. Sky News broadcasters have also reported the plans of Microsoft to cut almost 11,000 positions or 5% of workforces.

It has also been reported that the company is planning to cut jobs in engineering division. An insider reported that Microsoft is about to cut recruiting staff by almost one-third. It is also expected that the cut off will be significantly larger than past years as per Bloomberg’s report on Wednesday.

Despite of all this Microsoft has refrained from giving any comment over this. It said in July last year that certain roles have been eliminated and one of the sites confirmed that it had also laid off almost 1000 employees.

The company is under pressure to maintain growth rate after facing downfall for several quarters in computers market along with Windows devices sale falling down.

It was noted that the company had around 221,000 full time employees, out of which 122,000 from U.S. and 99,000 internationally as of June 30 last year.
