Theories About Link Between Covid Vaccines and Ringing Ears
It has been recently found that people have developed tinnitus on large scale and this seems to have a link with Covid vaccine. Researchers have found that many people have developed a condition where they have ringing in their ears. It has not been confirmed that there’s a link between Covid vaccine and ear ringing but there are theories about the same.
A professor of the physiology department at the College of Medicine at the University of Arizona, Tuscon Shaowen Bao says and believes that it can be because of the inflammation in the brain or spinal cord.
He is not just a normal professor but also a representative of the American Tinnitus Association’s scientific advisory board and has also faced the issue of tinnitus for a long time. He has studied tinnitus for more than a decade.
It was found by him through a Facebook group that many have been suffering from this condition and was suggested to research it to find a link between the vaccine and the condition. His survey landed him to the conclusion that almost 397 people from the group of participants faced the issue.
The cases were as serious as severe hearing issues in one condition where the man couldn’t hear the car radio because of the noise in his head. There were also some other symptoms like vertigo, dizziness, headaches, ear pain, anxiety, depression, etc., and coincidently in most cases, it started after they had taken the first dose of the vaccine.
This suggests “that the vaccine is interacting with pre-existing risk factors for tinnitus. If you have the risk factor, you will probably get it from the first dose,” Bao said. The results of the research conducted by him are yet to be published but the preliminary findings suggest the covid vaccine link.
A team at Stanford Medicine Molecular Neurotology Laboratory in California has begun studies to find the potential underlying mechanism of tinnitus. The goal is to find a biomarker that may help identify a person at higher risk of developing tinnitus after receiving a vaccine.
So, is it true that the vaccine is causing the condition?
It has been found that almost 16,183 people had filed complaints with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that they were facing such a condition after the vaccination.
The CDC on the other hand clarified that they haven’t found a link between the vaccine and tinnitus. The spokesperson of the agency said through email after the reports have been reviewed internally.
More Research Needed to study the Link-up
Dr. Gregory Polland founder and director of the Mayo Clinic’s Vaccine Research Group in Rochester, Minnesota has also spoken about this noting, how the CDC which has always published reviews about side effects of the vaccines which are related to inflammation of the heart or myocarditis has been silent about tinnitus and hasn’t published anything yet. He frustratingly said, “Why has the CDC not done all of the research that they should do on this and published it?”
He had been affected by the condition after Covid vaccines two years ago, this has further led to him being frustrated about CDC being unconcerned about the reports of tinnitus.
He describes the sound in his ear to be a constant shrill whistle and he says it affects the quality of sleep and life because of the sound.
