After Covid, a lot of people lost their taste and smell which are reported as covid19 side effects. There are many other side effects too like excessive hair fall, weight gain, increase in insulin level, etc. But out of all loss of sense of taste and smell indicates a good immune system are found to be positive side effects from point of view of health.

Yes, the research conducted by Columbia University shows that these side effects indicate a stronger immune system and are proving to be good for Covid survivors. It is also reported that the people who participated in the study are likely to have more antibodies if they experienced the loss of smell and taste.

How was the Covid Study Conducted?

The study was conducted by researchers at Columbia University and published later in a journal. The participants were invited after 2 weeks of infection in order to test the antibodies.

The test results for 266 out of 306 participants had antibodies and around 176 of them had covid fighting antibodies and 90 participants tested negative.

What did the Covid Results show?

The results showed that out of the ones who didn’t report having symptoms of loss of taste and smell only 57% had antibodies while on the other hand,71% of those who had the symptoms had covid fighting antibodies. These symptoms were initially very common but now the mutation of the virus and the vaccination reduced the side effects.

Despite all this, the fact that the side effects were signs of good and strong immunity is a new contribution to human health research. After the wave of the pandemic, many of us went through a lot of difficulties and now the study made it clear that the side effects which probably feared the most are signs of a good immune system and the body’s fighting power against big health issues.

Even if all this is true it is suggested to take vaccination and precautions as the threat of covid is not yet over. There have been many mutations of viruses and it has become important to improve the immune system and protect it from getting further affected by Covid and other such viruses. It is also suggested that one should get tested and treated without any delay.
