- Now China travelers no longer need proof of negative covid requirements and other such requirements.
- They are advised to follow a few advisories like reconsidering traveling.
- It is also made clear that all vaccines produced in China are not approved by the government and all commonly followed practices are not approved either.
Now travelers from China don’t have to comply with COVID-19 test requirements while traveling to the U.S. Because of the reduction in cases of Covid in China travelers are allowed to travel to the US without a test after 2 months of COVID.
These restrictions were added on Dec. 28 and were brought into effect on Jan. 5 because of the infection growing in China after the restrictions within the country were lifted and US health officials expressed concerns about China’s number of infections and deaths which appeared to be suspicious.
U.S. Centers of Disease Control and Prevention requirement ended last Friday after 3 p.m. EST for the flights that left by then. This decision comes after US-China relations are on the edge and Biden ordered to shoot of spy balloons on China after transversed the continental United States.Â
Recently concerns have been raised by US intelligence about the findings that suggest Beijing considered providing weapons to Russia for war on Ukraine. The administration under Biden had published reports of such findings.
Why Covid Restrictions are Removed?
Now the reports suggest that the CDC epidemiology data shows that there is no need for such restrictions as the cases in China are under control and that the agency identifies no new variants from China along with reduced case numbers.
This has also been confirmed by World Health Organisation in its daily report which had been at the peak of almost 7 million in December which has not come down to 20,000 or so per day between Jan 24 to Feb 21.
What are the procedures to be followed after the lifting of restrictions?
A few passengers from specified parts of China will not require to show COVID-19 negative reports two days prior to their flight or proof of recovery from COVID-19 before boarding. The citizens from Hong Kon, China, and Macau have been allowed with above said information.
They shall be allowed without report at designated airports which include Incheon International Airport in Canada and Vancouver International Airport in Canada.
What Travel Advisories do Americans in China have to follow?
Level 3 Advisories with updates to COVID-19 information were immediately issued by the State Department after the lifting of requirements by the CDC. Despite this, the advisory urges Americans to reconsider traveling by cautioning them about the health risks and wrongful detention risks involved.
The running advisory for Americans before the updates says:
The agency stated that it doesn’t, “provide or coordinate direct medical care to private U.S. citizens abroad. U.S. citizens overseas may receive PRC-approved COVID vaccine doses where they are eligible.”
The use of commonly available COVID-19 vaccines in China including Moderna and BioNTech/Pfizer is not authorized by the government. All vaccines which are produced in China are not approved by FDA which are almost 13 vaccines.
Thus, the agency has recommended people stay up-to-date and follow basic restrictions on their own and know that there are no restrictions imposed officially but they are also not left to do everything that is commonly accepted in the country. They have to be extra careful and just follow the instructions that will prevent any further undue repercussions.
