Honolulu Beach Shark Attack: A Man Losses His Right Foot to a Shark Bite

A horrible incident recently took place in Hawaii Honolulu as a surfer was surfing on the south shore of Oahu in Hawaii. He was bitten by the Shark and has been hospitalized in serious condition as per Honolulu Emergency Services.

The man who is 58- years old also lost his right foot after being bitten by a shark while surfing in Kewalo Basin. It is one of the busiest tourist places and is close to Waikiki Beach. 

The Emergency Medical Services in which he was hospitalized later responded through paramedics “administered life-saving treatment to a patient who was surfing and suffered shark bite to right leg,” EMS said in a statement.

It was also reported that an eight-foot tiger shark attacked the surfer aggressively. His family later on Monday identified the victim as Mike Morita and said that he is a regular surfer at the Kewalos. His family released a statement about the attack, “He has a long and difficult road ahead of him.

My dad is a fighter and even though he’s facing a setback now, you all know that won’t stop him,” his son said in the statement, which also thanked the “brave surfers and first responders who saved his life.”

It is the fourth reported attack of the year from Hawaii while it was only last month that a man 62 years old also suffered leg and hands due to a shark bite in Anaecho’omalu Bay on Hawaii’s Big Island.

Morita, soon after being bitten on Sunday was tourniquet by the other surfers in the area just managing to bring him back to the shore and immediately took him to Honolulu Emergency Services. 

According to Hawaii News as the surfers helped Morita the shark which is believed to be an eight-foot tiger again returned to the site and also attacked aggressively.
