  • The flourishing aviation business has brought new opportunities to Airways like Qantas.
  • Qantas to spend $70 million on lounges by 2025 in places like London, Sydney, Melbourne, and Hong Kong.

After the pandemic as the aviation industry rebounded Qantas Airways Ltd. in wake of underscoring demand for premium travel has announced a big investment in global airport lounges in a decade. London’s Heathrow Airport shall experience new flagship first-class lounges that will open in 2025 and it is a $100 million program as per Qantas on Tuesday.

The timing is matched with the world’s longest direct commercial services to be i.e. direct flights connecting Sydney with London and New York nonstop. As the demand for travel surpasses the available seats and there is a rise in fares, Qantas on Feb. 23 will be due to reporting record six-month earnings.

The airline is to start New Zealand to New York flights non-stop and so Qantas is also to launch an international lounge in Aukland. “Being back in profit means we’re back to making long-term investments,” Chief Executive Officer Alan Joyce said.

There are several other programs of Qantas that are to be started soon. It is also going to reopen refurbished international lounges by mid-2024 onwards in Hong Kong and it is also working on the redevelopment of international business-class lounges in Melbourne and Sydney.
