Get ready for more party members in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth! While the core cast from Remake is back, newcomers Red XIII and Cait Sith are now fully playable. But that’s not all – Cid and Vincent Valentine will also appear, though in a different way.
Originally thought to be AI companions, Director Naoki Hamaguchi confirms Cid and Vincent won’t fight alongside you. Instead, they’ll accompany the party, offering assistance outside of combat through story involvement and dedicated side quests. These quests promise to go deeper” into their individual stories, giving fans a chance to learn more about them.

This decision paves the way for future playable appearances in the trilogy’s final installment. “Using up all playable characters now would limit surprises and new experiences for the third game,” Hamaguchi explains.
