Ariana DeBose Return to Host Tony Awards 2023 in June

Ariana DeBose will host the Tony Awards in June 2023, announcing the Broadway League and The American Theater Wing.

"I was honored to host last year, and I'm even more honored to be asked back! Looking forward to celebrating this amazing season.

DeBose said in a news release, "Here's to bringing some uptown flavor to the magic of the Tony Awards".

Debose is well-known in the theater community. She has performed in numerous Broadway and off-Broadway plays.

Debose received a Tony nomination in 2018 for her performance as Disco Donna in the stage production of "Summer: The Donna Summer Musical."

Alongside Lin-Manuel Miranda, she also starred in the Tony Award-winning musical "Hamilton" and its TV movie adaptation, which won an Emmy in 2021.

She was the first openly queer woman of color to win an Oscar for her role in "West Side Story" and was also awarded a BAFTA and Golden Globe.

Speaking of the BAFTAs, DeBose caused quite a stir there earlier this year.

On June 11, CBS will broadcast the Tony Awards, which recognize theater professionals for noteworthy accomplishments on Broadway.
