Steve Mackey, the bass guitarist for the British pop band Pulp during its decades-long heyday, died on Thursday at the age of 56.

Katie claimed that Steve was the most brilliant person she had ever met. He was a fantastic musician, producer, photographer, and filmmaker.

Katie added, "As in life, he was loved by everybody whose paths he touched in the many artistic fields he dominated."

Steve Mackey received praise for Pulp's seven studio albums as well as for producing, recording, and mixing a wide range of performers.

Curating music for art exhibitions was also one of the other things Steve Mackey loved working on.

Fronted by the dynamic Jarvis Cocker, Pulp was at the core of the "Britpop" trend of the 1990s, scoring successes including "Common People" and "Disco 2000".

He returned to the band after a nine-year break for a world tour in 2011 and 2012, as well as a final album in 2013.

Nevertheless, Steve announced in October that he will not be performing in a series of reunion performances later this year.
