According to verified reports Chuck Jackson is one of the finest soul singer of all time passed away on February 16.

Jackson's recordings from the 1960s and 1970s are extremely significant and still hold great esteem today.

In 1957, Jackson joined The Del-Vikings and recorded lead vocals on the song "Willette," which marked the beginning of his singing career.

"I Don't Want to Cry," a song arranged by teenage prodigy Carole King was Jackson's first solo chart-topper.

Several of Jackson's charted tracks were duets with Wand labelmate Maxine Brown.

Any Day Now is one of  Jackson's defining hits and his subsequent popularity led to him signing a deal with Motown Records.

From 1961 to 1968 Jackson had 23 solo chart-topping hits. He joined Motown in 1968 and recorded records up to the 1990s.

After signing a deal with Scepter Records imprint Wand Records, Jackson co-wrote and recorded his first single, "I Don't Want to Cry," with Dixon.

The Rhythm and Blues Foundation presented Jackson with the Pioneer Award in 1992. He was twice married and has two children.

Jackson, who was raised in Pittsburgh and was born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, on July 22, 1937, left college in 1957 to sing with a gospel group.
