San Francisco has been struggling with a steep increase in homelessness and crime in recent years.

The city has an estimated 38,000 people living on the streets and face issues of public defecation.

A recent study found that California has approximately 115,500 "unsheltered" people.

California's homeless population has increased by roughly 6% since 2020, compared to 0.4% in the rest of the country.
