Eli Lilly Cuts Insulin Prices

The price cap is equivalent to the Medicare price cap established by the federal government this year as a result of the Inflation Reduction Act.

Lilly's statement comes just two months after the government's $35 cap went into effect, it comes after years of burning outrage over the growing prices of insulin in the US.

The list price for one 10 mL vial of Lilly's most often prescribed insulin, Humalog U-100, is presently $274.70.

According to one study, 1.3 million people, or more than 15% of those who need insulin, restrict their insulin due to high costs.

According to Lilly, those with commercial insurance can now choose for an monthly cap of $35 if they buy their insulin from participating retail pharmacies.

Those who do not have insurance can buy insulin for $35 per month by visiting insulinaffordability.com and downloading a Lilly Insulin Value Program savings card.

David Ricks, chair and CEO of Lilly, stated in a statement today that the drastic price reductions they are proposing should make a real difference for People with diabetes.

David Ricks said, while we try to manufacture newer medications for which they'll set high list prices the firm is fighting for change in repricing previous insulins.
