Ghanaian midfielder Christian Atsu a former Newcastle player was found dead in Turkey under the debris of the home where he had lived.

Atsu joined Hatayspor in September 2022 and scored the game-winning goal in a Super Lig match on 5 February.

Atsu moved to Chelsea from Porto in 2013 and spent a number of seasons on loan at teams including Everton and Bournemouth.

Atsu started his professional career with Porto and also spent a year on loan at Rio Ave. He was acquired by Chelsea for £3.5 million in 2013.
