Ghanaian midfielder Christian Atsu a former Newcastle player was found dead in Turkey under the debris of the home where he had lived.

The 31-year-old Ghanaian international had time with Everton, Chelsea, and Newcastle in the Premier League.

Atsu joined Hatayspor in September 2022 and scored the game-winning goal in a Super Lig match on 5 February.

Atsu moved to Chelsea from Porto in 2013 and spent a number of seasons on loan at teams including Everton and Bournemouth.

On Friday, it was revealed that Atsu had planned to travel abroad to see family but had cancelled his flight.
