The Irish group Gilla Band has released a new single, a song called "Sports Day."

The track is released before of the band's North American tour which hits in several American cities as well as Vancouver Canada.

The Gilla Band are still getting used to their new name they are growing ever-closer to something truly exceptional.

Gilla Band’s latest album Most Normal was released in October 2022 it included “Post Ryan,” “Backwash,” and “Eight Fivers.”

The new song is essentially an outtake or a rare track that wasn't on their most recent album and Most Normal.

The song tune may not be the most creative in the world but even in its roughness it has a certain charm.

Sports Day has enough grungey push and pull to distinguish it from other modern indie rock tracks.

Gilla Band was founded in 2011 and consists of vocalist Dara Kiely, guitarist Alan Duggan, bassist Daniel Fox, and drummer Adam Faulkner.

Gilla Band released their self-produced debut album Holding Hands With Jamie on Rough Trade in September 2015.

In November 2021 the band announced they were changing their name from Girl Band to Gilla Band.

The band  had to change their name because it was "misgendered" and that it might have "promoted a culture of non-inclusivity."
