After a brief illness, The Script guitarist Mark Sheehan passed away at the age of 46, the band announced on Friday.

In 2001, Sheehan, drummer Glen Power, and vocalist Danny O'Donoghue co-founded the Irish pop-rock group.

Sheehan was described by the band as a "much-loved husband, father, brother, bandmate, and friend" in a statement posted on social media.
