Journey Co-Founder and Guitarist George Tickner Passes Away at 76.

George Tickner, the founding guitarist and co-founder of rock band Journey has passed away at the age of 76.

Tickner's former bandmate guitarist and vocalist Neal Schon shared the sad news on Facebook.

Tickner was Journey's original rhythm guitarist and contributed to songwriting on their first three albums.

Tickner left Journey in 1977 to pursue a career in medicine and attend Stanford University on a full scholarship.

He earned his Ph.D. from Stanford Medical School and later built a recording studio called the Hive.
