Ke Huy Quan made history

Quan won the award for his portrayal of Waymond Wang in the blockbuster movie "Everything Everywhere All at Once" from 2022.

Ke Huy Quan is the second Asian actor to win an individual SAG award in film or television, one year after Lee Jung-jae of "Squid Game" won for male actor in a drama series.

While accepting his award an emotional Quan confessed on stage that he left acting because there were so few opportunities.

Quan's performance in "Everything, Everywhere, All at Once" marked his first major cinematic role since the 1990s.

Quan thanked Michelle Yeoh, saying, "We both started our careers in 1984, and one day we will meet on the big screen."

Quan also thanked co-star Jamie Lee Curtis who received a SAG Award on Sunday for her performance as Deirdre Beaubeirdre.

Quan took the opportunity of receiving his honour to encourage other actors who were "struggling to be seen."

There are 11 Oscar nominations for "Everything Everywhere All at Once," including best picture.
