James Jordan Sr was always a source of inspiration for Michael Jordan and served him as a mentor.

Jordan Sr. inspired his son Michael to become a basketball player and traveled to United States to follow his career.

James Jordan Sr. untimely died in July 1993. It was a tragic death which came from nowhere.

One evening, while returning home decided to pull over at US Highway 74 to take a nap.

When Daniel Andre Green and Larry Martin spotted his car parked on the side, they approached him and killed him.

Michael Jordan struggled to come to terms after the tragic death of his father.

He later decided to retire from basketball and wanted to focus on his family.

Eventually, Michael Jordan returned to basketball and as a tribute to Jordan Sr, sported the number 45.

In the coming months, Michael Jordan continued to struggle to come out of his grief.
